| Baxter Training February 2008 |
In February of 2008 theWilderness Rescue Team trained for 3 days at Chimney Pond in Baxter State Park. Training included going over mountain terrain, self-arrest, avalanche search, litter preparation, avalanche and snowpack conditions, rescue scenario, and crampon/snow techniques. We were also fortunate enough to do a Baxter Peak summit attempt on 2/17. The weather was beautiful all day (-11 degrees with 22mph winds on the summit), and we were all successful on reaching the peak.
